"Zandra and the Abduction That Wasn’t"

Zandra had just finished her concert, her sparkly silver heels clicking on the pavement as she waved to her fans outside the venue. The night sky sparkled above Hanover - calm, clear, and star-speckled.

“Time for pizza and pajamas,” she whispered to herself.

As she stepped into her apartment, a strange hum filled the room. Lights flickered. Her cat, Muffin, floated three inches off the floor and meowed in slow motion.

“Oh no. Not again.”

Before she could grab her emergency anti-abduction helmet (a gift from her grandmother who swore by tinfoil), ZAP!—a blinding light enveloped her.

When her vision cleared, she was no longer in her apartment, but aboard what looked like a glitter-covered disco ball... floating in space.

“Bzzzt—HELLO-HELLO SWEET ZANDRRRAAA!” echoed a voice that sounded like a blender flirting with a trumpet.

A creature emerged from the shimmering mist: seven feet tall, fluorescent purple, wearing fuzzy slippers and a T-shirt that read: "I ♥ Earth Girls."

“Iz me—Zon’xtr from Nebulon 5! Your number one fan! Autograph my antenna?”

Zandra blinked. “You abducted me… for an autograph?”

Zon’xtr wiggled excitedly. “Also… dance party! And maybe cuddlez. You sing like solar wind through crystal moons. Me swoon!”

“I have a concert tomorrow,” Zandra muttered, trying to find her balance on the gravity-defying floor.

“But Zandraaa,” Zon’xtr pleaded, his six eyes blinking in sync, “me made cosmic cocoa. And look! New pajamas for you. Space-jammiez! They sparkle!”

He handed her a glowing onesie covered in stars and tiny dancing UFOs.

Zandra raised an eyebrow. “This isn’t even my size.”

“We can adjust! We haz size-flexi-fabric tech. Very cozy.”

Despite herself, Zandra chuckled. The alien was kind of adorable… in a bizarre, interdimensional-hugger kind of way.

“Fine,” she sighed, “One cocoa. But no probing, no glitter glue fights, and I’m back before sunrise.”

Zon’xtr squealed like a hyper hamster. “Deal! Activate cuddle-drive! Engage fun-thrusters!”

He hit a giant button labeled ‘COZY MODE’. Instantly, disco lights swirled, a soft Earth-ballad played in the background (oddly, it was one of Zandra’s songs), and a hover-couch floated toward her.

They sat. Sipped cocoa. Zoned out into the stars.

After a while, Zandra looked at him and asked, “Do you abduct all Earth girls?”

Zon’xtr shook his head solemnly. “Only ones who make my quantum heart go wibble-wobble. You special, Zandra. You... fabulous.”

She rolled her eyes, but smiled.

“You’re ridiculous, Zon’xtr.”

“Yez. But ridiculously charming?”

“…Maybe.”

Suddenly, Muffin the cat floated into view, wearing a tiny astronaut helmet.

“You brought my cat?!”

“He iz adorable co-pilot.”

Back on Earth the next morning, Zandra woke up in her bed, still in the sparkly space-jammies. Muffin purred next to her, licking space cocoa off his whiskers.

She looked at the sky, saw a heart-shaped star slowly blinking, and laughed.

“Okay, Zon’xtr,” she whispered. “You win. Just… don’t show up on tour.”

A voice echoed faintly in the sky:
“Too late. Already bought front row. We scream for Zandrrraaa!”
